About Us

Hello, lovely to meet you, we are sisters Laura and Anna Dixon.

Together we opened The Doghouse Kendal, a pet store specializing in all things doggies and Grooming salon at 26 Market Place, Kendal in April 2021.

Laura is the eldest and she is out resident Groomer. Anna is the taller and she runs the boutique and online shop.

The constant love in our lives is Hugo a 100% Bedlington terrier, and the inspiration for everything we do.

In the summer of 2019, we sold our family business of 20 years and just as we sold the business our lovely dog groomer went off to New Zealand. We were at a loose end, and we wanted to do something together and work for ourselves, From this The Doghouse Kendal sprung to life!

Having a Bedlington terrier means a full groom every 6-8 weeks, (he gets his hair done more than us!). They are a very interesting shape as they have a curved spine, this has made getting him accessories that fit challenging. They are notorious picky eaters and are prone to quite a few allergies. Hugo has a chicken allergy, we felt like the worst dog owners in the world when we found out, as chicken stock is a key ingredient in most dog food and the one we were feeding him!!

Through trial and error with Hugo know all about getting quality accessories that fit like a dream and feeding the right natural dog foods and treats to keep him healthy and happy.

It is with this hard-earned knowledge we created a place for you to visit both in person and online, where you can shop for all your dog’s needs, knowing the products and brands are great quality, tried and tested and will help your dog in the way to health and happiness.
